Burry Now (2016)

We like to think of Burry Bookstore – Where Dreams Grow Wings– as a community center disguised as a bookstore. Originally opening in 1972 as the first and only bookstore in the area, Burry Bookstore has a long history serving our All-America City of Hartsville.  Under new ownership in 2015, the store was renovated and continues to grow in its outreach to the community.  With a conference room, comfortable seating areas, and Wi-Fi for our customers, we host book clubs, bible studies, literary events, business meetings and more!  We’re proud to foster the growth of our downtown community, from our historic spot on Carolina Avenue!

Our kids’ section features many wonderful children’s books, a large variety of Melissa & Doug educational toys, and play space so parents can shop while kids play. We also offer free Story Time weekly for young children.  And, we offer free gift wrapping—you can get a birthday gift, a greeting card and have it wrapped on your way to the birthday party!  In support of our community, we carry tickets to many local events and have a bulletin board with flyers for the many happenings in town.

Of course, we ARE a bookstore and we carry over 30,000 new and used books. We have a trade-in process for folks to bring in used books to obtain store credit.  And we love to bring author events and book signings to further grow a love of reading and writing in the community, open to everyone!

Come see us and let us exceed your expectations!

Trading In

New Books Arriving Daily!
We have a wide selection of Used Books – and more arrive daily!

Got books? If you’re cleaning out your shelves to make room for new additions, how about trying out our new trade in policy? It’s simple –  you just bring your books from home, we evaluate them and in return you get store credit! Then you can use that store credit towards other Used Books! You can use the Store Credit to pay for up to half the value of your purchase.

For example: If you are buying a book for $4.97 and have $10 worth of store credit, you can use $2.50 worth of your store credit towards the purchase – leaving you with just a bill of $2.50 plus tax!

If you have any questions about the process feel free to ask at any time!

Another new addition to the store are our hours! Check out the hours page and we will see you soon!
